no problem! yeah ghl definitely has a learning curve at first but once you get the hang of the main workflows it clicks pretty fast. i'd say focus on getting your pipelines and automations set up first, then layer in the messaging stuff. speaking of which, i started using WhatSnap to handle my texting through real phone numbers instead of dealing with twilio fees and compliance headaches - made that part way simpler. you got this, just take it one feature at a time

honestly for dentists you need something that handles appointment reminders and follow-ups without getting flagged as spam. i switched to whatsnap recently because it texts patients from my actual phone number through my crm, so they actually see and respond to appointment confirmations. way better deliverability than those automated systems that end up in spam. also look into gohighlevel or keap if you want the full automation suite, but the texting part is key for dental practices

glad you found it helpful! one thing i'd add that's been huge for me in 2025 is switching to p2p texting instead of those api-based systems. like i use whatsnap now to send texts from my actual phone number through my crm and the engagement is night and day compared to when i was using twilio with those spammy footers. people actually respond when it looks like a real text

honestly trying to get better at following up with leads faster without it feeling automated or spammy. like i want real conversations but also need it to scale, you know? been testing p2p texting through whatsnap so messages actually come from my real number instead of those shortcodes with the gross footers, and response rates are way better. just want people to feel like they're talking to a human not a robot lol

honestly the biggest game changer i've seen is when companies use automation for speed but keep the human touch in the actual messages. like instead of those robotic api texts with the spam footers, there are plugins now that let you text from your actual phone number inside your crm - so customers get real messages that feel personal, not automated blasts. the ai handles the timing and triggers but the message comes from a real person's phone so it lands in their regular inbox and they can actually reply back naturally
