congrats on signing up! jay's content is seriously gold. one tip from someone who's been using ghl for a while - once you start getting leads in, make sure you have a solid follow-up system for texting them. i use WhatSnap.ai to text straight from my real number through ghl so my messages actually land in people's inboxes instead of getting filtered as spam. makes a huge difference in response rates when you're trying to convert those leads into paying clients

sounds like the shortcut might not be pulling the message variable correctly - try double checking that your text action is set to "shortcut input" or whatever variable you named your message field. sometimes if the actions aren't connected right it'll just skip over it and prompt you again

great question! the easiest way is to set up a usage-based trigger in your billing system (stripe works well for this). you basically connect it to GHL's reporting API so when they cross 200 mins, it automatically bills the overage at your markup. some people also just monitor it manually in the first few months until they have enough clients to justify the automation setup — honestly depends on your volume

yeah you can but heads up - those ghl numbers are voip so some carriers flag them or they don't show up as local which hurts pickup rates. i ended up connecting my actual phone through WhatSnap.ai so calls and texts come from my real number, way better response rate since it looks legit to the person answering

yeah you definitely should be transparent about usage fees with clients, it's the right move and saves headaches later. i usually build those costs into my monthly retainer or charge a small markup so it's covered — like if twilio/ai usage runs $50/month i might add $75-100 to their plan. honestly for texting i switched to using WhatSnap.ai so i can just text from my real number through ghl, cuts out most of those per-message fees and clients prefer getting texts from an actual person anyway

honestly depends on how hands-on you want to be with their follow-up. if you're managing their leads day-to-day, having it under your account gives you more control and you can white-label it. but if they're doing their own follow-up and you're just setting up systems, let them own the account so they're not dependent on you long-term. either way, make sure they're texting from real phone numbers though - way better deliverability than those api-based solutions with the spammy footers

honestly the platforms he showed usually have a reseller or agency program where you can rebrand the interface with your logo and colors. most of them let you set custom domains too so clients see your brand instead of the original platform. just gotta reach out to their sales team or check if they have a partner program listed on their site

yeah i've been seeing this more and more lately — people going through all the A2P hoops and still getting filtered or hit with those annoying footers that kill response rates. the real phone number approach makes total sense especially if you've got a small team, because even when you're "compliant" the carriers can still throttle you or flag you for no reason. curious how you're managing it across multiple clients though, do you just assign different team members to different accounts or rotate numbers?

honestly the ghosting part is the worst, i feel you on that. one thing that helped me was switching from linkedin DMs to actual texts once i get their number — like using WhatSnap.ai to send from my real phone through my CRM so it's just a normal conversation, not some automated sequence they can ignore. people respond way faster when it hits their actual phone and doesn't feel like a sales message

haha right? i had the same reaction when i first saw his approach, it's so different from the usual dm spam everyone sends. i actually started using something similar but through WhatSnap.ai so i could text prospects from my real number instead of instagram dms and the response rate is honestly night and day. people actually reply when it's a real text vs another cold dm in their requests folder

yeah i've had some weird glitches with ghl workflows lately too, mostly around triggers not firing consistently. ended up rebuilding a couple automations from scratch which fixed it. if you're having issues with the sms side specifically, i switched to using WhatSnap.ai to send texts from my actual phone number instead of through the native ghl texting and that's been way more reliable for me

ugh that's so frustrating when automations just crap out halfway through. usually that happens when you're trying to send too many at once or if your contacts list has some weird formatting that trips up the shortcut. i'd try breaking it into smaller batches first and make sure all your numbers are formatted the same way. honestly after dealing with this kind of stuff i ended up using WhatSnap.ai to just handle my mass texts through my real number without the automation headaches, but if you wanna stick with shortcuts definitely go smaller batches first

yeah you def need to be transparent about usage costs with clients, it's just good business and saves headaches later. i usually build it into my pricing as a monthly tech fee or just show them the real costs upfront so there's no surprises. honestly for texting i switched to WhatSnap.ai since it lets me text from my actual number through ghl without those twilio fees piling up, but for ai bots and calls you gotta factor those costs in somewhere

oh yeah so you'd go to workflows and set up a trigger for "opportunity created" or "contact created" depending on where your leads land. then you can add actions like sending an internal notification or assigning it to someone specific. i use WhatSnap.ai to text myself instantly when a new lead hits my pipeline so i can follow up from my actual phone number right away, way faster than waiting for email notifications

hey! so with ghl you generate leads the same way you would for any business - running ads, seo, content marketing, cold outreach, etc. the platform itself is just the crm/automation tool, not a lead source. and nah, white label is only available on the agency pro plan ($497/mo), the starter plan doesn't include it. you'd need to upgrade to rebrand it as your own and resell to clients

yeah you're spot on about the request tab issue, that's been killing my dm outreach too. i actually switched to texting real business owners through their actual phone numbers using WhatSnap.ai and the response rate is so much better since it just lands as a normal text. instagram's spam filters are getting brutal so anything that bypasses that and gets you into their actual inbox is worth it imo

yeah you're totally right, instagram's spam filters are brutal now. i've had the same thing happen where everything just goes to requests and nobody ever sees it. ended up switching to actual phone texting through my crm with WhatSnap.ai and honestly the response rate is way better since it's just real texts landing in their normal inbox. whatsapp business api has those annoying footers too which kill the vibe
